Jeep Wrangler JK vs JL: Parts Fitment Differences in the UAE

Published

Jeep Wrangler JK (2007-2018) and Wrangler JL (2018-present) share a name and a body-on-frame architecture, but they are different platforms. Parts fitment does not carry across in most applications. Ordering by model name and year alone, without specifying the generation, produces fitment errors at the counter.

Filters: the clearest split to verify first

Engine air filters: JK 3.6L V6 takes 68257791AB (2007-2018). JL and Gladiator take 68257030AA (2018-on). These are different base numbers, not different revisions of the same part. The JL redesign introduced a different filter housing geometry. Cabin air filters: JK (two-door and four-door) uses 68535613AA (2011-2018); JL uses 68535621AA (2018-2022). Again, different bases. Quoting a year and "Wrangler" alone gets one generation when the other is needed.

Brakes: different part numbers and different dimensions

The JK front rotor is 52060147AA (2007-2018). It does not fit the JL. The JL standard front brake pad kit is 68409860AC (2018-2026); the JL standard front rotor is 68273502AB. Dimensions differ between the two generations and the parts are not interchangeable. JL Rubicon runs a larger caliper and wider rotor than the standard JL trim; VIN confirms whether the Rubicon brake setup is fitted.

Suspension, axles, and valve cover gaskets

JK valve cover gaskets (3.6L V6): left side 4893805AB, right side 4893804AB. JL uses different numbers for these. Dana axle seals, U-joint components, and differential parts are generation-specific. A JK Dana 44 axle seal does not fit the JL Dana 44: the axle designation is the same but the shaft dimensions and mounting geometry differ. Suspension links and track bars are also generation-specific and not interchangeable between JK and JL.

UAE considerations

Both JK and JL Wranglers are common in the UAE. Some North American-spec JK imports carry trim designations that do not match the factory build record: a used JK may present as Rubicon-badged but have non-Rubicon axles, depending on how the vehicle was originally configured. The 17-digit VIN decodes the actual factory axle code, engine, and trim level. Send it to us before ordering any axle, suspension, or drivetrain component.

Confirming fitment before you collect

Send the VIN and model year via WhatsApp to +971 4 330 4022. We confirm the generation, trim, and axle configuration from the Stellantis build record, and verify the correct part number is on the shelf before you collect. Shelf-stock parts confirmed before midday are dispatched the same day within Dubai. Next working day to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, and the Northern Emirates. For the full range of Wrangler parts on the shelf at Ras Al Khor, see the Jeep Wrangler parts page.
